This Sunday is unique as it has a palindrome date.
For the first time in over 900 years we have an eight digit palindrome day!  The last time was 11/11/1111

February 2, 2020 or 02/02/2020 has the unique distinction of reading the same backward and forward regardless of date format since it works whether you write the date as "Month/Day/Year" or "Day/Month/Year" as many countries do.

An eight-digit ubiquitous palindrome date will happen only 11 times in the years between 1000 and 9999.

The previous eight-digit palindrome was 11/11/1111, 909 years ago and the next palindrome date in will happen on 12/12/2121, after 101 years.
01/01/1010..........(1010 years ago)
11/11/1111 ..............(909 years ago)
02/02/2020 ............ (well, today!)
12/12/2121 ...............(in 101 years)

In Greek ‘palin dromo’ means “running back again” - so putting it simply, a palindrome is a word/phrase/sentence that reads the same when read forward or backward e.g. KAYAK, or ROTOR.
Also this Sunday is the 33rd day of the year with 333 more days to follow as February has an extra day this year.
In addition to the rare palindrome date phenomena, it is also Groundhog Day in Canada and America.

The day is part of a long-standing tradition in which a groundhog is used to determine how many more weeks of winter there will be.

They are not palindromic everywhere. (Americans write medium-small-large, rather than small-medium-large, or large-medium-small as ISO - 8601 IIRR - and some other parts of the world do.)
