C'est assez marrant, je suis Tourangeaux (habitant de Tours donc) de naissance, j'ai grandis et vécu là-bas, et j'ai toujours considéré que je parlais un français extrêmement neutre, voire un français dont l'accent était en fait inexistant. Je suis monté à Paris pour mes études il y a de ça quelques années, et ça m'a permis de me rendre compte que je parlais bien différemment des parisiens. Chez moi on me disait que je parlais un français rapide, alors que pour la plupart des gens que je côtoie maintenant ce n'est plus du tout d'actualité (s/o les gens dans les commentaires qui mettent la vidéo en 1,25). Selon certains potes que j'ai ici à Paris également, je prononce certains mots d'une manière un peu écorchée, je mange un peu sur des syllabes. La vidéo me conforte un peu dans cette idée. Je ne m'étais jamais rendu compte que j'avais en fait un "véritable" accent.

Bonjour! Je suis americain et etudie le Français depuis trois ans. Je watch beaucoup many YouTube videos donc je learn the subtilties of the language. I also watch beaucoup French language shows on Netflix. And I will say as a beginner, understanding spoken French isn’t easy. I recently watched a video of your health minister. So difficult to understand. Yes, it was French but spoken at warp speed so that only a native can understand. You on there other hand are crystal clear. Your enunciation and diction of French words are the most precise and I’ve ever heard. Also, you speak at a speed and rhythm that is so easy to listen to and to identify the individual words. Spoken French on Netflix or TV, radio, YouTube is tres,tres, tres fast...and words are smashed together so it’s hard to hear if it’s one word or ten. I’m not sure I’d characterize that as “pure”...neutral is more what I think. As a beginner, I think it’s so important to hear unaccented speaking, that’s of any language. Nothing wrong with accented French from France or all over the world but it’s not for beginners. In the same way that learning American English from someone in the Deep South would slow any beginners progress. I’m determined to stay in your region for a month( instead of Paris, which my wife has visited) I’m certain my French will be 100% better then when my stay began. In the meantime, I’m subscribing to your channel and look forward to more! Merci beaucoup!

As an American who started to learn French in the 3rd grade (age 8), my teacher had l'accent de Tours. That enabled me to understand everything you said in this film. In many of the other You Tube French films I have great difficulty understanding what is said. As an adult I lived in Geneve for five years and had no difficulty with French spoken there. Once, when I visited Quebec, Canada, and made a purchase in a local store, the sales lady said, "Oh madam, vous etes du continent !" I guess I still had l'accent de Tours.

This video is very interesting, I studied the origin of my mother language, Italian, a few months ago and I see many similar points in common like the social discrimination for the accents and the centrality of the "pure" accent.

En Espagne arrive une chose pareille concernant les accents. On dit souvent que les espagnols à Madrid n'ont pas d'accent (même si c'est faux) peut-être parce qu'elle est la capitale simplement. Alors que les accents des autres régions semblent moins sérieux, il y a une tendence à les ridiculiser, surtout ceux du Sud. En Espagne, on associe l'accent du Sud avec l'ignorance . Je ne sais pas exactement pourquoi, mais c'est comme ça...

J'ai du mal à comprendre toutes ces remarques stupides à propos de votre vitesse d'élocution. Elle est très bonne.
En tant que française, j'ai toujours appris à l'école que le "meilleur" français était celui de la région de Angers (ce qui correspond à peu près au français de Tours je suppose.)

A propos d'accents, j'estime qu'il faudrait faire la différence entre la "musique " de la langue (il y en a des tas ) et la prononciation des sons propres à la langue (là, soit c'est correct, soit non. Par exemple tous les parlers incapables de différencier les nasales entre elles sont incorrects. ou de faire la différence entre o et ô. )
Je ne suis pas d'accord avec votre notion de non-accent "parisien": il y en a plusieurs (selon la classe sociale), et ils changent relativement vite (plus personne ne parle comme Arletty, qui était le prototype de l'accent populaire de Paris, qui a toujours été considéré comme un "accent" et que personne n'a jamais pris pour le français standard, non plus que celui des "Marie Chantal" de la bourgeoisie parisienne.

Ce que je trouve incroyable c'est que j'ai compris presque la totalité de ce que vous avez dites sans l'emploi des sous titres et avec mon français de secondaire! C'est un testament à la clarté de votre accent. Félicitations! Excellent vidéo.
