The omnivorous coastal brown bear has approximately 42 teeth: large predatory teeth for shredding and molars for grinding.
In Katmai National Park and Preserve, Alaska, a bear’s diet during the summer consists primarily of salmon with the addition of sedge grasses and berries.

History of National Dentist’s Day:
National Dentist’s Day falls on March 6th every year. It was established as a way to show appreciation and thanks for dentists. It’s also a way to bring awareness to dentistry so that people will know more about how to care for their teeth. It also encourages people who may have avoided going to the dentist to come in for a checkup.

How patients can celebrate:
1. Show your dentist how you’ve improved your oral health regimen
2. Commit to better dental habits
3. Raise awareness (teach your child a new tooth-brushing song, encourage family and friends to visit their dentist)
4. Schedule a dental checkup (get back in the office to make sure your teeth are healthy and your habits are on the right track)
5. Smile (show off your work and your dentist’s work)
6. Take a picture with your dentist and do a shout-out on your social media accounts
7. Make sure to add the #NationalDentistsDay hashtag to all posts

Dentist’s Day is an annual professional holiday celebrated on March 6. It is the perfect occasion to express your appreciation and gratitude to the people who help you keep your tooth healthy.

The date of March 6 was chosen because presumably on this day in 1790, American dentist John Greenwood, who served as George Washington’s personal dentist, invented the first known dental foot engine.

Dentist’s Day celebrates all dental health specialists, including but not limited to, regular dental surgeons, orthodontists, periodontists, pediatric dentists, prosthodontists, dental assistants, dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists.

Dentists are typically not the people we look forward to seeing. Many of us feel nervous before a dental visit, and the mere sight of a dental chair makes us anxious. But once the dentist’s work is complete, we really appreciate what they have done to ensure the health of our teeth.

On Dentist’s Day, send your dentist a greeting card or congratulate them in person. And if you want to visit the dentist as rarely as possible, start paying more attention to your daily dental care routine. But keep in mind, that regular check-ups are still important even if your teeth seem okay.
