Include a lot of green vegetables like spinach, oily fish, eggs, nuts and citrus fruits to keep you eyes disease free.2. If you’re a smoker, quit now!
Smoking puts you at a higher risk of cataracts, optic nerve damage, etc. Also, smoking not only causes damage to your eyes, but also increases risk of cancer and heart attack.
Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the world. A high blood sugar blocks the veins and eventually the blood supply to the eye. This results in diseases like glaucoma. Hence, it is important that you do a blood sugar check regularly. If you already have blood sugar, take steps to keep it in check.
Most of us have to spend a lot of time working on computers. Staring at the computer screen for a long time strains our eyes. So upgrade your glasses and contacts regularly according to your latest prescription. You can also use an anti-glare screen. However, take small breaks in between work so that you don’t overstrain.
Prolonged exposure to ultra violet rays of the sun is not good for our eyes. Hence, whenever we go out in the sun, it’s good to use a sunglasses. While buying your shades make it is 99% UV resistant. Also, using a polarised glass cuts out the glare.
Vision problems can arise in any age. Regular eye check up will not only keep your power under check but also prevent it from major diseases. Also, if you have been prescribed glasses, wear it regularly. Otherwise, it may result in rapid vision loss.
