Hillary Clinton Gets a Standing Ovation at ‘Hello Dolly’

Hillary Clinton has received a standing ovation from her devoted fans while out on the town for the Broadway production of Hello, Dolly!

The audience at the Schubert Theatre in Manhattan gave an unrestrained cheer on Thursday night as they spotted the Clinton entourage entering and taking prime seats in Orchestra Level.

‘You can still be 46!’ one fan shouted over the roar of applause, referring to hopes for another Clinton presidential bid.  

Star Bette Midler greeted Clinton backstage during intermission, where the former Democrat candidate delivered an impromptu address to the cast and crew.

Not in attendance was Bill Clinton, who was spotted in Amsterdam on Friday giving an address to the 22nd International AIDS Conference.
After the election Hillary Clinton often received standing ovations as she went to Broadway plays. Even now, a year-and-a-half later, the shine hasn’t worn off. When she finally went to see Hello Dolly - she originally had tickets for an April 2017 performance but had to miss it as she was being honored by the LGBT Center - she was warmly received by both the audience and the cast.

Before the show she stood up from her seat and her fellow audience members chanted her name and gave her a standing ovation. 

After the show she met the cast and posed with star Bette Midler. (Midler recently took the role of Dolly Levi over from Bernadette Peters, after Peters took over when Midler originally left the production. Confused yet?)

Midler was thrilled with the Hillary Clinton Hello Dolly appearance, writing on Twitter, “Hillary Clinton came to Hello Dolly tonight! What a thrill! The crowd stood, clapped and chanted her name until the lights went down. It made us all unbelievably happy to see her.”

Though there probably won’t be another Hillary Clinton Hello Dolly double-header, if you want to see the show, you’d better hurry. The current run of Hello Dolly closes Aug. 25.

Hillary Clinton received a rapturous reception when she showed up to watch Broadway musical “Hello, Dolly!” in New York City on Thursday.

Audience members at Manhattan’s Shubert Theatre “stood, clapped and chanted” the former Secretary of State’s name “until the lights went down,” the show’s star, actress and singer-songwriter Bette Midler, revealed on Twitter.

Midler was also pretty excited, describing Clinton’s visit as “a thrill” that “made us all unbelievably happy to see her.”

Clinton later met with the show’s cast, and ended up giving them a backstage pep talk about registering to vote.

“Tell your friends to tell their families and friends in every state to register,” said Clinton, per an Instagram post from Midler. “And make sure they have not been purged from the rolls before they get there to cast their ballot.”

Multiple members of the public have shared footage of Clinton receiving the standing ovation upon entering the auditorium

Well, have I got a treat for you! Broadway super-fan Hillary Clinton was finally able to score tickets to Hello, Dolly! last night and according to the show’s inimitable star, Bette Midler, the political icon stole the show.
People applauding Hillary Clinton just for being is the second best thing on Broadway next to Head Over Heels. Oh my God, imagine if Hillary Clinton went to Head Over Heels! Sorry, I have to lie down.
After the show, Clinton met with the cast backstage, took the iconic photo that is now my new home address and retirement community and then kiki’d with Bette
