Instead of saying "I love you," they say, "I SEE YOU."
To see the other is to recognize them as someone who resembles you,
to go beyond the surface and delve into their Being.
It means more than seeing the other physically.
It means seeing a glance, loving in the other with understanding, acceptance and connection to our shared vulnerability, humanity, and divinity.
I see your pain.
I see your strengths.
I see you and accept everything I see, even what I don’t like, even what differs from my beliefs.
I see your light.
I see you without judging, without blaming you.
I see you beyond anyone else’s expectations and projections, as they may hurt you and bury your identity even deeper.
I see you in all your dimensions and in the richness of all your experiences.
I see you. It is my way of unconditionally welcoming you, and in doing so,I see you and receive you as you are.
I see you. It means letting yourself shine, without filters, without masks, and without fear.
When I say “I see you,”
I let go of my judgments, my prejudices, to truly see you as a whole.
How you really are.
And I accept you exactly as you are.
I see you because I can also see myself.
Something beautiful, among tribes in South Africa is that their most common greeting,
Good morning, in Zulu, means, “I see you.”
It is a way to see the other, to accept them as they are, with their virtues, with their light, and also with their flaws.
“I stand before you.”
I respect you, I value you,
You are important to me, and I accept you.
“I accept you as you are, and you are a part of me.”
I SEE YOU.
