17 Bucket List Must-Do’s
for New Yorkers

New Yorkers are famous for not taking advantage of the plethora of
wonders offered by their city. Everyone knows someone who has never been
to the Statue of Liberty, or the Empire State Building. Maybe that’s
you.
Take it from someone who lived here and then left, you’ll regret not
doing a few New York specific things if you leave. So don’t live with
missed opportunities, get out and live them. Don’t worry if they’re
stereotypes or “meant for tourists,” there are awesome things waiting for you. Right now. Here are 17 New York things to cross off your bucket list in 2015:
1. Dinner at the Tavern on the Green
Enjoying
a fine meal on the patio in the summer air with lights dangling above
you? Gazing out at a snow covered Central Park in the winter? Do both.
2. Evening at the Met Opera House
If
you have never had the pleasure of experiencing the grandiose majesty
of Lincoln Square’s Metropolitan Opera House, you need to do so. Even if
you aren’t a fan of opera, you will be deeply moved.
3. Do a baseball double-header
I was
lucky enough to go to a game at Yankee Stadium in the afternoon and at
Shea Stadium at night on July 4th in the 90s. You’d be hard-pressed to
find a better way to celebrate that holiday.
4. Skating at Rockefeller Center
You probably keep threatening to do it, but still never have. So get over there and strap on some skates, already.
5. Spend a weekend at Coney Island
A
day isn’t enough. Besides the amusement park, the New York Aquarium is
there, the Brooklyn Cyclones play there, and there’s a beach. New York
City can make you miss out on summer. Coney Island can bring it back.
6. Take a selfie with Lady Liberty
You probably still haven’t visited the Statue of Liberty. I can’t come up with excuses anymore. Can you?
