Ancient Roman Faces
👨 Real Faces 👦

🏛️
Was created by using and modifying photos from ancient roman statues and accurate descriptions of the time about the subjects' physical appearance. Beginning with the Triumvirate, the Julio - Claudian dynasty and ending with Nero.

Can we make a movie about Rome with those faces using deep-fakes and using the original language(Latin) that will be awesome!🙃🤘

Crossed my mind too and I work in films as a designer. For me this means somewhere a producer or a writer or a director thinks the very same thing at this moment. I think we will see AI enhanced animation films very soon. If history is topic then maybe documentaries first. Honestly when deep learning will enter the picture, we will explore so many new ways of entertainment. By the way for the upper class we will need ancient Greek too. It was an official language and language of the intellectuals and politicians. For example Caesar's last words to Brutus were uttered in Greek: "Kai su, teknon?".

If you made a movie it should be more of a documentary styled one with scenes that don’t have historical fiction. Scenes that show only things that we can prove that they said and scenes where they do only things we know they did. This as well as CGI for ancient city’s and a good documentary voice over.

Octavian looked exactly as I imagined him as did Nero ! Never imagined Brutus to be so handsome. This was outstanding. Thank you for all your long hours and hard work !!
🏛️
Octavian was said to be blonde by many contemporaries.

The statue of Julia the Elder was actually a statue of Livia but there are statues of Julia though

Very interesting if one compares the looks of emperors after Trajan (nearly all of non-Italic origin) with reconstructions before. Vastly different I would say... As you can see Italic faces were lighter, more rectangular, lots of blue eyed individuals (if not majority). Right in the middle between the looks of Ind-Europeans invaders and that of native Mediterranean people...

The ancient Roman hairstyles look remarkably modern. Also most appeared to be clean shaven, which in those years was not easy to do. I read somewhere that they had their beards plucked which would have been very painful and time consuming.

Roman Emperors
Realistic Facial Recreations Using AI and Photoshop
(2nd Century CE)
👇 📽️ 👇
Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of facial recreations of Roman emperors by Tunisian artist Haroun Binous, living and studying in Switzerland. We are now moving to the 2nd Century and presenting the next 10 emperors, most of them being from Nerva-Antonine and Severan Dynasties. This list includes 4 out of 5 known as "Good Emperors", Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius, who were all adopted emperors, but earned the respect of those around them through good governing.
Comments:
Marcus Aurelius looks like Sir Alec Guinness who played him in the film "Fall of the Roman Empire". Fascinating.
