The soldiers were random extras and had no idea what the script was or what was going to happen during the scene.

They were just told to not laugh at all
If they did they would not be payed
So the reaction would be pure and much funnier.

They are actually trying to hold back the laughter. 

When some of the guards laughed, it was for real.
