High Heels Weren't Originally For Women

High Heels

Were NOT Originally For Women

The epitome of femininity and glamor is a pair of high-heeled shoes, but originally, they were actually designed for men!

According to a recent BBC report, high heels were worn as a form of riding footwear, with the heel allowing a soldier to stand up in his stirrups securely so he could shoot his bow and arrow more effectively, says Elizabeth Semmelhack of the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto.

As with everything, the wearing of heels became so popular that the aristocracy increased the height of the heel to be different again.

The Imelda Marcos of the 1600s was the Roi Soleil himself, King Louis XIV of France
Standing at 163 centimeters, he wore heels to add a reported extra 10 centimeters to his height. The heels and soles of the shoes were always red (now associated with Christian Louboutin) and all anyone in French society had to do to check whether someone was in favor with the King was to glance downwards.

By 1740 men had stopped wearing heels altogether and now the era of men walking around on their toes seems to be behind us.

Yet, there are still some...

Yanis Marshall uniqueness is that it is one of the few men in France to dance and offer dance classes in heels!
French choreographer, teacher and dancer, began dancing at an early age with his mother (Director of a dance association near Cannes). At only 15, he obtained his Jazz Dance EAT (Technical Ability Examination) with honors.
He joined the cast of "Le Roi Soleil". Youngest of the troupe, he was then only 16 years. Yanis continued his career as a dancer with the musical "Les Dix Commandements" and many other shows.
In 2009, right after turning 20 years, he met Sheryl Murakami at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City. There he fell in love with the American Street Jazz style and he decided to develop it in France.

Edith Piaf - Marie Trottoir

 Marie Trottoir
Edith Piaf

Marie Trottoir
Marie-Trottoir, bonsoir Marie,
Marie, bonsoir.
Toi qui n'attend personne
Et un peu tout le monde,
Perchée sur tes talons,
Sur tes trop hauts talons,
Marie qui vend du rêve
A ceux qui ont envie d'espoir,

Tu as d'ailleurs
De quoi plaire à certains rêveurs.
Tu es assez fardée.
Tu es un peu trop blonde
Et puis tu as aussi
Aussi un parapluie,
Marie qui pense à tout,
Même à vous mettre à l'abri.

Marie-Trottoir, bonsoir Marie.
Marie, bonsoir.
Toi qui n'attend personne
Et un peu tout le monde,
Marie née à Angers,
A Nice, ou à Saint-Dié,
Marie qui vend du rêve
A ceux qui ont besoin d'aimer,

Bonsoir, Marie-Trottoir.
Tu fais rien dans le noir.
Ne parle pas, souris, vas-y,
Joue les Jocondes,
Marie qui a toujours
Pour tous les sans amour,
Marie qui a un cœoeur,
Grand comme une roue de secours.

Marie-Trottoir, bonsoir Marie,
Marie, bonsoir...

Climate Name Change

Climate Name Change
Since 1954, the World Meteorological Organization has been naming extreme storms after people. But we propose a new naming system.
One that names extreme storms caused by climate change, after the policy makers who deny climate change and obstruct climate policy.

Que Nadie Sepa Mi Sufrir - Raphael

Que Nadie Sepa Mi Sufrir
Raphael

Solo conseguiras

Amor de mis amores
si dejaste de quererme
no hay cuidado, que la gente
de esto no se enterara.
Que gano con decir
que tu amor no fue sincero
Se burlaran de mi
que nadie sepa mi sufrir.

Let no one know my suffering
Do not be surprised if I tell you what you were
ungrateful to my poor heart.
and the shine of your pretty black eyes
lit the path of another love.

And to think that i loved you dearly
that at your side I felt like I never did
and because of those rare things in life
without the kiss of your lips I saw myself.

Love of my loves
Soul of mine what have you done to me
That I cannot console myself
without being able to behold you.
What do I win by saying that your love changed my luck
You’ll only gain me never mentioning you again.

Love of my loves
If you stopped loving me
Don’t worry, the people wont know about that.
What do I gain by saying that your love wasn’t sincere
They’ll only laugh at me, may no one know my suffering.

And to think I loved you tenderly
That at your side I left like I never did.
and because of those rare things in life
without the kiss of your lips I saw myself.

Love of my loves
Soul of mine what have you done to me
That I cannot console myself
without being able to behold you.

Ya que pagaste mal
mi cariño tan sincero,

English
May no one know my suffering
Don't find it weird if I tell you what you were:
an ungrateful woman towards my poor heart
Because the shine of your beautiful black eyes
has lit the way for another love
And to think that I adored you tenderly,
that by your side I felt like never before,
and because of those rare things in life,
I have found myself without the kiss from your mouth.

Love of my loves,
owner of me, what have you done to me,
that I cannot find comfort
without being able to look at you?
Since you have repaid so badly
my so sincere affection,
what you will get is
that I never again say your name.

Love of my loves,
if you have stopped loving me,
you have not bothered to make anyone
aware of that
What do I get from saying
that another love has changed my luck?
If if was all hidden from me,
may no one know my suffering!

Federico Fellini 🎬 La Dolce Vita

Federico Fellini’s

La Dolce Vita

"Movies do not change,
but their viewers do"
http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lise9kYxYx1qfd2e5o1_1280.jpg
Roger Ebert: "When I saw La Dolce Vita in 1960, I was an adolescent for whom “the sweet life” represented everything I dreamed of: sin, exotic European glamor, the weary romance of the cynical newspaperman."
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lp77lbvkAo1qd6r1po1_1280.jpg

When I saw it again, around 1970, I was living in a version of Marcello’s world; Chicago’s North Avenue was not the Via Veneto, but at 3 a.m. the denizens were just as colorful, and I was about Marcello’s age.
http://24.media.tumblr.com/48dce92ada1b59a392da7f13aed40c1f/tumblr_msovdbOFbm1rydwamo1_500.gif

When I saw the movie around 1980, Marcello was the same age, but I was 10 years older, had stopped drinking, and saw him not as a role model but as a victim, condemned to an endless search for happiness that could never be found, not that way.
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lnvd0tHHjO1ql17i1o1_1280.jpg
By 1991, when I analyzed the film a frame at a time at the University of Colorado, Marcello seemed younger still, and while I had once admired and then criticized him, now I pitied and loved him.
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mduunyL3x31rpduwho1_500.gif
And when I saw the movie right after Mastroianni died (1996) I thought that Fellini and Marcello had taken a moment of discovery and made it immortal.
There may be no such thing as the sweet life. But it is necessary to find that out for yourself.”

Amitoj Gautam: In La Dolce Vita, Marcello (Marcello Mastroianni) is a journalist in Rome during the late 1950s who covers tabloid news of movie stars, religious visions and the self-indulgent aristocracy while searching for a more meaningful way of life.

Depicting the ease, confusion, and frequency with which Marcello is distracted by women, the movie's theme "is predominantly café society, the diverse and glittery world rebuilt upon the ruins and poverty"of the Italian postwar period.
Based on the most common interpretation of the storyline, the film can be divided into a prologue, seven major episodes interrupted by an intermezzo, and an epilogue.
If the evenings of each episode were joined with the morning of the respective preceding episode together as a day, they would form seven consecutive days.

In the 2nd Day Sequence, Marcello Mastroianni goes on assignment for the arrival of Sylvia (Anita Ekberg), a famous Swedish-American actress, at Ciampino airport where she is met by a horde of news reporters.

Later, an infatuated Marcello dances with Sylvia in the Baths of Caracalla. Sylvia's natural sensuality triggers raucous partying while Robert (Lex Barker), her bored fiancé, reads a newspaper.

His humiliating remark to her causes Sylvia to leave the group, eagerly followed by Marcello and his paparazzi colleagues. Finding themselves alone, Marcello and Sylvia spend the rest of the evening in the alleys of Rome where they wade into the Trevi Fountain.

This is one of the most enigmatic figures, in a way, in all of Fellini because she tempts, she taunts, she leads people on, she’s full of some kind of slightly spurious joy of living.
